These are 'The Brown Eyed Mommies' as Karyn nicknamed them when she was about 4! Both of our girls love the chocolate peanut butter cookie with so many names and before Karyn renamed them, they were Brown Eyed Susan's after the flower, but since 'Mommy' was making them, they became the Brown Eyed Mommies.
Typically, they have been made at Christmas time, but there is so much activity at Christmas, this year I decided to do a lot of the baking after Christmas. It has worked out nicely for grandkiddies, visitors to the farm, and us!
In the foggier, colder days of winter, a sweet treat is just the right comfort food with a pot of hot tea! It is also a great idea for Valentines! ~xx~
Oh those look good Kari! I will have to try some. So they are a peanut butter cookie recipe? And it looks like you sprinkled some sugar over them before baking, I think.
ReplyDeleteGraham would love these, he loves PB cookies!
These look yummy. x
ReplyDeleteThank you, Annie. Yes, they are a peanut butter cookie:
ReplyDelete1/2 C butter, 1/2 cup peanut butter, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup packed brown sugar, 1 egg, 1 1/4 cups flour, 1/2 t. baking powder, 3/4 tsp. baking soda, 1/4 tsp. salt. The ingredients are mixed together and then chilled for at least 30 minutes, then I roll them in to WALNUT sized balls, roll them into sugar and bake in the ball form. At the end of baking at 375 degrees for about 11 minutes, I push a chocolate kiss into the middle of them and that forms the delicious crackle effect. They need to cool on the pan before removing.
If you aren't going to put a chocolate kiss in them, then just crisscross the balls by dipping a fork into sugar and eliminate rolling them in sugar.
I think I will squeeze in a batch for my Valentine!
